A month after a deadly incident in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) prompted New Delhi to halt a crucial river water-sharing agreement between the neighbors, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi declared on Thursday that Pakistan will not receive water from rivers over which India has rights.
Following the attack on April 22 that killed 26 individuals, predominantly Hindu tourists, India declared a number of actions against Pakistan last month, including the suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty (IWT), which was negotiated by the World Bank in 1960.
Before both sides agreed to a truce on May 10, New Delhi accused Pakistan of the attack without providing any proof and began missile strikes on Pakistani cities, starting the biggest military hostilities in almost 30 years.
