The Director General of the Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR), Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, has referred to the notion that India might cut off Pakistan’s water supply as “insane thinking.”
“Only a crazy person can think that India can stop Pakistan’s water,” the military spokesperson said Al Jazeera in an interview. 240 million people cannot have their water supply cut off.
On Thursday, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi declared that Pakistan would not receive water from rivers that belong to India. The announcement was made one month after New Delhi suspended a crucial river water-sharing agreement between the neighbors due to a deadly incident in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).
