KARACHI: The Sindh Education Department has started an eye screening program for students in government schools throughout the province in response to growing concerns about how mobile phone use affects kids’ vision.
The department has instructed school heads to fully cooperate with the program in a letter sent to all districts. A non-governmental organization (NGO) has been given a No Objection Certificate (NOC) to conduct the screenings.
Students in every district will have their eyes examined, and free glasses will be given to those who are determined to need them, officials said. The program seeks to improve children’s eye health and encourage early detection of visual issues.
