There will be no holiday on May 28, according to the Punjab School Education Department, as schools throughout the province will stay open to celebrate Youm-e-Takbeer with a number of formally sanctioned events and contests.
The department directed all Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) of District Education Authorities to make sure the day is celebrated in government schools with “a positive social message for peace and courage” in a notification released on Tuesday.
The circular lists particular events that must take place on school grounds, such as honors to the Pakistan Army, national song and prayers, and special morning assembly programs.
Competitions at the district level will also be held, including speech competitions on subjects like the importance of Youm-e-Takbeer.
