A worrying example of a woman who cracked a bone just by rolling in bed has been recorded by Chinese doctors. The woman’s excessive use of sunscreen and years of avoiding sunshine caused the injury.
A 48-year-old woman at Chengdu’s XinDu Traditional Medicine Hospital unexpectedly broke her bones while rolling over in her bed. Tests found that she had severe osteoporosis and very low vitamin D levels, leaving her bones dangerously brittle, according to Dr. Long Shuang, who oversaw her treatment.
An important contributing factor to her disease was discovered through additional lifestyle research. The woman had avoided direct sunlight for the majority of her life. Every time she went outside, she was careful to apply sunscreen and wore long sleeves. Even so, this regimen shielded her skin from the sun.
