ISLAMABAD: During the Eid ul Adha holidays and the week that follows, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a severe heatwave warning for the majority of the nation.
A high-pressure system is predicted to form over the nation on June 7 and ensnare most areas starting on June 8, causing daytime temperatures to rise sharply, the Met Office said in a statement.
In the upper part of the country, which includes central and upper Punjab, Islamabad, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan, daytime temperatures are predicted to increase by 5-7 degrees Celsius over normal between June 7 and June 12.
Temperatures in the southern portion, which includes sections of Balochistan, southern Punjab, and upper and central Sindh, are predicted to stay 4-6 degrees Celsius above average during that time.
