RIYADH: Two weeks after regional foes Iran and Israel agreed to a ceasefire, Iran’s foreign minister met with the de facto ruler of Saudi Arabia.
Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman emphasized Riyadh’s stance “in supporting dialogue through diplomatic means as a path to resolving disputes” in a post on X early on Wednesday, adding that his kingdom hoped the truce would help maintain regional stability.
Abbas Araghchi, the Iranian foreign minister, “expressed his gratitude” to Riyadh for its denunciation of Israel’s attacks on Iran last month, the Saudi government said.
On June 13, Israel began its unprecedented bombing campaign against Iran, focusing on residential areas as well as military and nuclear sites.
