The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) said Tuesday that travelers using US airports will no longer have to take off their shoes for pre-flight security checks.
Even dignitaries were seen removing their shoes and going barefoot in order to obtain security clearance, a practice that many people view as “humiliation” that has existed for the past 20 years.
At TSA checkpoints, travelers are permitted to leave their shoes on while undergoing security checks, according to US Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem.
The Department of Homeland Security claims that the new regulation would improve traveler hospitality and expedite the TSA security checkpoint procedure, which will result in shorter wait times.
