US President Donald Trump has been nominated by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for the Nobel Peace Prize, the most prestigious international honor bestowed upon a person or group judged to have done the most to “advance fellowship between nations.”
Netanyahu said that Trump had “displayed steadfast and exceptional dedication to promoting peace, security, and stability around the world” in his letter to the Nobel Committee, which he posted online. Trump has already been nominated and is currently working to arrange a ceasefire in the Middle East.
In June, Pakistan said that it will suggest Trump for the award in recognition of his efforts to mediate an Indian-Pakistani dispute.
Some have expressed skepticism about PM Netanyahu’s choice of Trump, notably former Swedish Prime Minister Bildt.
