While a federal judge ordered the Trump administration to temporarily halt some of its most aggressive tactics in rounding up undocumented immigrants, a California farm worker died Friday after US immigration agents raided a cannabis nursery and arrested hundreds of workers, according to a worker advocacy group.
During the operation, which was the most recent step in President Donald Trump’s plan to deport large numbers of illegal immigrants from the United States, dozens of migrant rights activists engaged federal authorities in combat in rural Southern California on Thursday.
On Friday, a California judge barred the Trump administration from denying immigrants their right to counsel while they are being held in custody and from using racial profiling in its efforts to identify targets for deportation.
