In order to preserve marine biodiversity in regions outside of its borders, Pakistan has ratified a UN treaty that established a legal framework for all maritime activity.
The “Agreement under the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea on the Conservation and Sustainable Use of Marine Biological Diversity of Areas Beyond National Jurisdiction (BBNJ Agreement)” was signed by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar at the UN Headquarters in New York, the Foreign Office announced Tuesday.
