A resolution sponsored by Pakistan and urging member states to take action to effectively implement the 15-member body’s resolutions for the peaceful settlement of disputes, including those involving Kashmir and Palestine, was unanimously adopted by the UN Security Council on Tuesday.
As one of the two signature events proposed by Pakistan during its presidency of the world body’s power center, the UNSC took action on the resolution during a meeting organized under the “Maintenance of international peace and security” agenda item. The meeting called for strengthened collective efforts to address the alarming trends of long-running, unresolved disputes that threaten international peace and security.
