India’s embassy in China said Wednesday that it will start issuing tourist visas to Chinese nationals again on July 24 of this year. This is the first time in five years that the two nations are attempting to mend their tense relationship.
A military conflict over their disputed Himalayan border in 2020 caused tensions between the two nations to rise. India responded by blocking hundreds of well-known Chinese apps, restricting Chinese investment, and closing passenger lines.
Due of the COVID-19 epidemic, China halted visas for Indian nationals and other foreign nationals at the same time. However, in 2022, it started providing visas for business and student travelers, lifting the restrictions.
Prior to both nations agreeing to resume flight connectivity in March of this year, Indian people were not allowed to get tourist visas.
