Ahead of the US top envoy’s trip to Europe for negotiations on a potential ceasefire and an aid corridor, more than 100 charity organizations issued a warning on Wednesday that “mass starvation” was growing in Gaza.
The disastrous humanitarian situation in the Palestinian territory, where over two million people are severely lacking in food and other necessities following 21 months of conflict, is putting increasing pressure on Israel from around the world.
Since the US- and Israel-backed Gaza Humanitarian Foundation began operations in late May, Israeli soldiers have killed over 1,000 Palestinians attempting to receive food aid, the UN reported Tuesday, thus undermining the current UN-led system.
111 organizations, including Oxfam, Save the Children, and Doctors Without Borders (MSF), signed the statement.
