A young woman named Sidra was allegedly killed by her family and buried in secret in the Fauji Colony neighborhood, which is within the jurisdiction of the Pirwadhai police station in Rawalpindi, in another tragic instance of a so-called honor killing.
The case has taken an unexpected turn after being filed on July 21 as an abduction complaint by Ziaur Rehman, the victim’s husband. Ziaur Rehman said in the FIR that his wife Sidra, whom he married on January 17, had fled the house, reportedly stealing money and gold items, and was suspected of having ties to a man named Usman. The complaint demanded judicial action and contained allegations of an illegal marriage.
It also states that her in-laws pretended not to know that anyone was looking for her.
