Authorities in Harda, Madhya Pradesh, India, said that a massive explosion at a firework factory on Tuesday resulted in at least 11 fatalities and 80 injuries. AFP published the details.
After a fireworks plant explosion, Indian television displayed pictures and videos of a tower of flames and the dozens of ambulances that were dispatched to remove the injured. Helicopters from the Army were also requested.
An employee at Harda District Hospital stated, “We can confirm seven deaths so far,” requesting anonymity because they were not authorized to speak to the media. “We have 65 injured admitted here, and have referred 10 others to a bigger hospital.”
Senior district official Kailash Chand Parte, who was in charge of organizing the factory’s rescue operations,
The intense fire was being fought by about fifteen fire engines.
“At least eight people had very serious injuries… we are here at the site and focused on rescue work and sending people to the hospitals, so we can’t immediately confirm the number of dead,” Parte told the AFP news agency.
So far, we’ve been able to save the lives of roughly 70–75 individuals who had varied injuries. They’ve all been hurried to nearby government hospitals.”
