According to police data, at least 2,290 dogs were reported stolen in 2022—a 6% rise over the previous year—with the majority of cases occurring in London, Kent, and West Yorkshire.
The most popular breeds that were stolen were English Bulldogs, French Bulldogs, and XL bullies. According to Direct Line, the first two types were usually marketed for roughly £3,000.
One of the dogs that was reported missing was Mouse, a Jack Russell who was last seen on December 3rd of last year while out for a walk.
Her absence has “devastated” her owners, who have searched extensively and repeatedly across the Chalfont St. Peter, Buckinghamshire, region without success.
