KARACHI: An air hostess working for Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) was punished for flying from Islamabad to Toronto without her passport on Friday (March 15), according to reports released on Sunday.
According to a source with the national carrier, the hostess lost her passport on flight PK-781 heading for Toronto and had to enter the plane using the general declaration paperwork.
As a result, Canadian authorities imposed a $200 fine on her for irresponsibility and arriving in Toronto without her passport.
Responding, the PIA acknowledged the occurrence and the fine imposed on the air hostess.
The national flag carrier’s spokeswoman, who did not reveal the flight attendant’s identity, stated that she had misplaced her passport at Karachi airport.
He rejected allegations of the air hostess’s stay and political asylum in Canada, stating that she is returning to Pakistan on aircraft PK-782.
The incident prompted worry because numerous PTI flight attendants who were seeking immigration to Canada had gone missing.
According to the source, more than ten PIA flight attendants went into hiding after arriving in Canada.
