LONDON: The family of the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of the Israel-linked container ship that the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) captured has requested assistance from the Pakistani government.
Muhammad Adnan Aziz, the COO of the Portugal-flagged MSC Aries, is one of the two Pakistanis who were on the ship that the Iranian military forces arrested, according to family sources who spoke with News.
His relatives who live in London and who have family in Karachi and Azad Kashmir also conveyed their concerns with this correspondent.
They verified that Aziz and another Pakistani were on the ship that the Iranian military had taken control of. “We went to the Foreign Office this morning to ask for assistance in ensuring Muhammad Adnan Aziz’s safe return as soon as possible. The FO has assured us of all help. We understand that the matter has been taken up with the Iranian authorities already.”
Following a deadly Israeli strike on Iran’s consulate in Syria, the family members stated they were astonished to find that Iran had seized the ship close to the Strait of Hormuz, amidst growing tensions throughout the area.
