The Department for Environment, Food, and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) has unveiled new proposals that will allow councils to co-collect food and garden waste.
DEFRA announced that the same materials will be collected from homes, businesses, and educational institutions across the country in order to remove the complexity caused by municipalities operating different systems.
According to the statement, individuals won’t need to confirm what items their particular council would accept for recycling as a result of the steps.
It further stated that the action will increase recycling rates and simplify things for waste collectors.
The blueprints are applicable to all homes, including apartments, in England.
