KARACHI: Following five additional recoveries on Tuesday, the number of remains discovered from various parts of the city skyrocketed to 22, leaving the mystery surrounding mysterious deaths in Karachi unsolved.
In a statement, a representative for the Chhipa Welfare Association stated that volunteers discovered five more remains in various parts of Karachi on Tuesday. The spokeswoman said, “Three of them appeared to be drug addicts, but not a single body has been identified thus far.”
After today’s recoveries, the non-governmental organization that oversees the city’s ambulance network reported that there are now 22 unidentified bodies.
It further stated that because no relatives of the deceased came to claim their bodies, almost two dozen of them bodies remained unclaimed.
Numerous residents of the port city were impacted by the prolonged heatwave, which was blamed for the deaths since many of them were admitted to various hospitals with heatstroke.
After more than a dozen unidentified people were discovered dead in various parts of Karachi, an official from another humanitarian organization in the city, Azeem Khan of the Edhi Foundation, told The News yesterday that the majority of the dead were drug addicts who passed away from extreme heat while under the influence of drugs.
