KARACHI: As the city’s citizens continue to suffer in the sweltering heat, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) on Sunday predicted hot and muggy conditions for the port city over the next three days.
The Met Office reports that today (Sunday) will likely see temperatures as high as 39°C, which will make the already oppressive heat in the city even worse.
While there is a possibility of thunderstorms in some areas of Sindh, such as the districts of Tharparkar, Badin, and Umerkot, the PMD stated that rain is not expected in Karachi today.
“Weather is predicted to lessen starting tomorrow.”
Chief Meteorologist Sardar Sarfaraz, however, stated that the city’s current heatwave should start to abate tomorrow due to the likelihood of sea breezes returning by tonight.
The air pressure in the Arabian Sea is low due to the hot and humid weather, but it is expected to end very soon, according to weather analyst Jawad Memon.
He also mentioned that sea clouds will soon be brought about by sea breezes.
“There is a possibility of drizzle in the night and morning in different areas in the coming days,” Memon stated.
In recent days, a strong heat wave has engulfed Sindh, the province capital, with highs above 40°C and “feels like” temperatures around 50°C.
A brief burst of rain provided residents with a much-needed break from the extreme heat, but the reprieve was fleeting as Karachiites now prepare for more hot and muggy weather.
