On Sunday night, DSP Ali Raza of the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) was martyred when unknown gunmen opened fire on him close to Karimabad.
Police sources state that DSP Ali Raza was heading through the Karimabad neighborhood when the incident happened. He suffered grave injuries after several shots from unidentified gunmen struck his car.
Eleven shot casings were found by the police at the scene, proving that 9mm weapons were used.
After DSP Ali Raza was taken to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, doctors worked feverishly to preserve his life. Regretfully, he passed away from his wounds not long after arriving.
The DSP had been shot in the brain, according to rescue sources, and despite medical attention, the wound turned out to be deadly.
Apart from DSP Raza, a security guard from an adjacent building sustained injuries during the incident. He is presently undergoing medical care, and it is said that his status is stable.
Murad Ali Shah, the chief minister of Sindh, has denounced the incident and called it a terrorist crime. He has instructed the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Central and Deputy Inspector General (DIG) CTD to launch an immediate, in-depth investigation into the event and provide a comprehensive report.
