KARACHI: Heavy rains are expected in Karachi after July 20, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), as the city continues to experience scorching weather with sporadic showers.
A day prior, the port city had intense midday rainfall in a number of locations, including Gulistan-e-Johar, Saddar, II Chundrigar Road, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, North Karachi, and Saddar.
The city came to a standstill when the rain started to pour, causing the streets to fill with standing water and disrupting traffic flow.
The PMD stated that there is a chance of rain and drizzle in a few areas of the city today, even though hot and muggy weather is predicted for the next 24 hours.
According to the PMD, the highest temperature is probably going to be between 35°C and 37°C, with an 80% humidity ratio in the air and mild westerly breezes.
It also mentioned that the evening is probably when the sea breeze will return.
According to Chief Meteorologist Sardar Sarfaraz, there’s a chance of light rain or drizzle today in certain locations. “Low air pressure that caused rain in Karachi has moved towards Oman,” he stated.
He added that the heat might cause some clouds to gather locally, but that the next three to four days will see better weather in the city.
