KARACHI: The temperature is predicted to soar to a scorching 40°C, with an intensity of 45°C, despite the Pakistan Meteorological Department’s (PMD) forecast of light to moderate rain.
The Met Office has stated that thunderstorms could develop in Karachi’s surrounding areas as monsoon winds move into Sindh. As a result, there is a possibility of moderate to heavy rain in a few different parts of the city this evening or tonight.
A day prior, Gulistan-e-Johar, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Surjani, North Karachi, New Karachi, Malir, Cantt, Mosmiyat, Sharea Faisal, Bahadurabad, Tipu Sultan, Gulshan-e-Maymar, Gadap, and other parts of the city were hit by heavy to light rain.
The rain brought much-needed relief to the locals who had been frying in intense heat, with temperatures feeling significantly higher.
According to PMD projections, Surjani Town, Scheme 33, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Gulistan-e-Johar, and other places are predicted to see showers today, while Gadap and Taiser towns may experience severe downpours.
The meteorological department emphasized that there is a possibility of light rain tomorrow evening or night as well. From now to tomorrow, moderate to heavy showers are predicted in several parts of Sindh.
The city is still experiencing hot, muggy weather, though, and this is predicted to persist for the next 24 hours despite the showers.
