The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has decided to completely eliminate the Provincial Tobacco Development Cess in response to concerns from growers.
The development cess on virgin tobacco (flue-cured, barley-cured, and dark-air-cured) was set at Rs50 in the yearly budget, and as of right now, taxes on other categories have been lowered by Rs30.
Virgina will now be subject to a tax of Rs 25 per kilogram, whereas other kinds will only pay Rs 15 per kg.
On Tuesday, the Finance Amendment Bill was introduced in the Provincial Assembly.
