Three places linked to armed persons were raided by police in response to demands made by the Bannu jirga. Eight people were arrested as a result of the raids, and a sizable quantity of weapons was taken.
The Bannu jirga had been holding a sit-in for five days and was demanding the removal of armed organizations from the area. In response, the raids were conducted. The destruction of these parties’ offices and the removal of illicit weapons were among the demands made by the jirga.
Police also found an unregistered farm truck during the raids. Locals chanted pro-law enforcement slogans after the operation to show their support for the police action.
