LAHORE: After torrential monsoon rainfalls on Thursday set a 44-year record, at least four civilians, including a girl, died and seven others were injured in separate incidents of electrocution and roof collapse.
Nearly 360 millimeters of rain battered Pakistan’s second-largest city, submerging streets, flooding hospitals, and cutting off power in the 13 million-person metropolis, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD).
A previous record of 332 millimeters over three hours in July 1980 was broken by the rain that fell today.
Numerous people were killed and numerous houses and infrastructure in various regions of the provincial capital were damaged by the intense downpours.
