To ease the traffic on the roads around the metropolitan area, the Sindh government declared on Tuesday that all bus terminals would be moved out of Karachi’s congested neighborhoods.
Starting on August 14, a free shuttle service will be available to passengers who wish to go to these terminals.
After a meeting, Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon decided to move all of the old bus terminals to a new location, according to a statement.
“Heavy vehicles are causing problems for citizens, and traffic congestion is getting worse,” he stated, adding that the bus station will have more contemporary amenities.
In order to maintain security, the minister added, a police checkpoint is also being built at the bus terminal in Karachi. The Cantt Station, Sagheer Shaheed Road, MA Jinnah Road, and Al-Karam Square would be the starting points for the shuttle service.
The interests of all stakeholders would be taken into consideration before taking action, he continued.
“Steps will taken in way that it does not harm transporters, while passengers also get relief,” Memon said.
