The Punjabi government founded PEF, an independent organization, in 1991 with the goal of advancing education through public-private partnerships. Through financial support, the foundation enables private schools to give worthy students with a free education.
Nevertheless, the Punjab Teachers Association voiced their strong disapproval of the action and threatened to hold protests in response to the provincial government’s decision to transfer control of government schools to the Punjab Education Fund (PEF) and Punjab Education Initiatives Management Authority (PEIMA) under the pretext of reorganization.
The Punjab Education Foundation will be hired to manage 13,219 schools throughout the province; after that, they will be turned over to private persons, non-governmental organizations, and other groups.
