In response to a report suggesting that Islamist organizations might be organizing an attack on the city’s renowned cathedral on New Year’s Eve, police in the German city of Cologne are increasing their force. During a press conference, Officer Martin Lotz announced that submachine gun-wielding officers wearing protective vests would be stationed across the city.
