Macpherson described receiving the cancer diagnosis as “a shock, it was unexpected, it was confusing, it was daunting in so many ways” in an interview with The Australian Women’s Weekly.
She stated that she looked into her treatment choices and made the decision to keep the condition a secret.
After undergoing a lumpectomy, or surgery to remove cancer from the breast, Macpherson was given a diagnosis of HER2 positive oestrogen responsive intraductal carcinoma, according to the magazine.
According to reports, the doctor advised her to have a mastectomy along with hormone therapy, radiation, chemotherapy, and breast reconstruction.
The Australian celebrity, who wrote a book of the same name, said that she finally decided against chemotherapy after considering her options for several weeks and consulting with 32 physicians and specialists.
