According to KP Health Minister Syed Qasim Ali Shah, the patient was a 33-year-old laborer who arrived at the Islamabad airport on September 7 but was not identified during the screening procedure despite exhibiting symptoms.
The minister urged the federal government to step up surveillance in order to prevent zoonotic infections from spreading among the populace.
The minister expressed grave concern that individuals were not examined in the federal capital and that this attitude could endanger the populace in a video message sent to the media following the detection of the disease in a person from Dir area.
