A stunning scandal has emerged involving commercial banks, accused of making a staggering Rs65 billion by selling pricey currency. Under the leadership of Senator Saifullah Abro, the Senate Standing Committee on Economic Affairs has taken notice of the situation and declared plans to take action against the implicated banks.
Senator Saifullah Abro raised severe concerns about the matter during a recent committee hearing. He recalled that in 2022, Ishaq Dar, the finance minister at the time, had disclosed the banks’ illicit earnings of Rs65 billion from the selling of dollars that were overpriced.
“The chairman of the committee declared emphatically that this money belongs to the poor people and that it must be returned.”
Has anyone been held accountable for the selling of these pricey dollars, Senator Kamran Murtaza questioned.
