Mohammad Ibrahim Kunbhar, Dr. Kunbhar’s brother-in-law, filed the first information report (FIR) and has listed 20 of the approximately 35 suspects.
In a related development, Barrister Farrukh Shareef has filed a petition in the Sindh High Court in Karachi, requesting a judicial investigation into the events leading up to Dr. Kunbhar’s alleged extrajudicial death as well as the legal violations, violent mob attacks, and fundamental rights violations throughout the entire episode.
Ibrahim Kunbhar said in his FIR that on September 18, while Dr. Shah Nawaz Kunbhar was visiting the Lyari neighborhood of Karachi, he was taken into custody by the Umerkot police.
He claimed that when the police brought the doctor into jail, Advocate Junaid, the doctor’s cousin, was with him.
