According to a Sindh Government investigation, Dr. Shah Nawaz was slain by police in Umerkot during a fictitious encounter. Details of the report were disclosed by Interior Minister Zia ul Hassan Lanjar following CM Murad Ali Shah’s presentation of it.
According to Lanjar, the committee concluded that Dr. Shahnawaz’s death was the result of a “fake” encounter. He went on to say that SSP Mirpurkhas had already been suspended and that it was a given that the DIG was engaged in the entire situation.
CM Shah received the 31-page report earlier in the day.
According to Lanjar, the report solely looked into the fictitious incident, and a forensic inquiry is being conducted to ascertain whether or not blasphemy was committed.
