PESHAWAR: Following days of deadly confrontations, warring Kurram tribes agreed on a ceasefire, but more than a month later, violence broke out in the region once more. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Governor Faisal Karim Kundi said on Friday that the number of deaths had risen to 60, with dozens more injured.
In a statement to the media, Governor Kundi stated: “In Parachinar, there have been up to 60 fatalities and numerous injuries.”
The governor’s comments coincide with the ongoing second round of fighting, which started around a week ago over trench building and hasn’t stopped since.
Two competing tribes have been engaged in combat for a parcel of territory. After the violent conflicts in August, the two sides agreed on a two-month truce.
