MULTAN: Millions of mango trees are still underwater as a result of the terrible floods in South Punjab, leaving growers in despair and jeopardizing one of the most valuable and meticulously cultivated crops in the area.
Large areas of orchards have been encircled by floodwater for almost a week, according to growers. According to experts, thousands of trees may wither and suffer irreversible losses if waterlogging continues for an additional 15 to 20 days.
The mainstay of Multan’s agriculture, mango trees take eight to 10 years to reach maturity before bearing fruit, thus their disappearance is especially tragic. Muhammad Arif, a grower from Nawabpur village, stated, “Mango is not just a crop; it is our livelihood.”
