District Duki in Balochistan has witnessed protests following the latest violent incident in the southwestern region of the country, which resulted in the deaths of at least 20 miners and the injuries of seven more in a rocket attack on nearby coal mines.
“Heavy weapons were used by a group of armed men to attack the mines in the Duki area in the early hours of Friday,” stated Humayun Khan, the town’s police station house officer. The town is situated east of Quetta.
He said that they also threw grenades and rockets at the mines.
The mineral-rich area, which shares borders with Iran and Afghanistan, has been plagued by violent episodes on a regular basis for decades.
Not a single group has taken credit for the most recent attack.
