He became a formidable rival in powerlifting after he achieved an amazing total lift of 860 kg in the open division.
Butt was also a standout in individual competitions, winning gold in the squat (lifting 370 kg) and bench press (lifting 210 kg).
After lifting 280 kg, he also won a bronze medal in the deadlift division.
