There is a holiday for both public and private colleges and universities in Punjab, according to the government.
This decision is a reaction to possible student demonstrations over a case of alleged assault at a private college that was covered by fake news.
Notice of Holidays
All of the province’s educational institutions will be closed on October 18 according to a statement from the Punjab Higher Education Department.
The notification states that the holiday was declared in order to quell student agitation and to protect educational institutions, as directed by the Punjab Home Department.
