ISLAMABAD: Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari, the chairman of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), has been nominated as the party’s parliamentary leader as part of ongoing attempts to foster agreement among all political parties in advance of the much awaited changes to the Constitution.
This occurs at a time when Treasury Bench members are frantically trying to persuade the opposition to support the 26th Amendment to the Constitution, which primarily pertains to judicial reforms.
Speaking to the media in front of the Parliament House in Islamabad on Friday, PPP leader and head of the parliament’s Special Committee on the draft constitution Khursheed Shah announced that Bilawal had been selected by his party to lead the parliament.
In the meantime, Naveed Qamar, the leader of the PPP, has sent in the paperwork needed to choose the party chairman.
