ISALABAD: The ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) ministers asserted on Saturday that the coalition government had found the “magic number” to approve the controversial 26th constitutional amendment; however, attempts to reach a wider agreement among political parties were delaying the introduction of the judicial package in parliament.
Notwithstanding their persistent efforts to engage in talks with political parties to facilitate judicial changes, the coalition government and its ally, the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), have failed to present the proposed constitutional amendment in parliament.
In the proposed amendment, the Supreme Judicial Council and Judicial Council will be reorganized, a constitutional bench will be established, and the three-year term limit for the nomination of the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court would be fixed.
