As province authorities scramble to address the escalating smog situation, IQAir data released on Tuesday put Punjab’s capital, Lahore, as the most polluted city in the world.
According to recent data, Lahore’s air quality has surpassed the 400 US AQI threshold, indicating the worst potential level of danger.
Yasir Husain, an ecologist, told Geo.tv that healthy air is below 50 US AQI, which measures PM2.5 particles. Accordingly, the air in Lahore is 80 times more contaminated than it should be, he continued.
