16 pricey iPhones were confiscated from a Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) waiter by customs officers at New Islamabad Airport during a routine examination.
The PIA flight attendant, who was on a tourist visa, came to the airport from Canada. The contemporary smartphones were hidden on the employee when customs officials checked him upon arrival.
Customs agents have detained the steward for legal action in reaction to the event. Even though the steward was traveling in a private capacity, he has been given a show-cause notice by PIA management.
“The airline does not tolerate unauthorized actions by its employees and will not show leniency towards those involved in illegal activities,” a PIA official said.
