Sri Lanka won the Hong Kong Super Sixes 2024 title on Sunday after defeating Pakistan by three wickets.
With only three wickets and six balls lost, the Lions pursued a modest 73-run total, outclassing the Green shirts.
The team got off to a respectable start thanks to a 39-run combination between openers Sandun Weerakkody and Dhananjaya Lakshan.
Weerakkody, the leading scorer with a 13-ball 34, was dismissed by captain Faheem Ashraf in the fourth over, giving Pakistan the much-needed breakthrough.
Following two rapid strikes, Pakistan had reduced Sri Lanka to 59/3 in 4.2 overs. However, in the last over, Tharindu Rathnayake bravely knocked 16 runs under duress to put his team over the finish line.
