The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has authorized raising Karachi’s energy costs by 40 paisa per unit.
Monthly gasoline price fluctuations are the reason for the rise, which goes into effect in August 2024.
Many people have criticized the decision, seeing it as an additional hardship on Karachi’s already suffering population.
The price increase has been confirmed by NEPRA, which also stated that customers’ electricity bills will reflect the additional fees starting in January 2025. K-Electric will impose the increase.
