After winning the US election, Labour peer Harriet Harman has urged Sir Keir Starmer to “suck it up” and extend an invitation to Donald Trump for a state visit.
The prime minister stated, “I look forward to working with him in the years to come,” after having dinner with Mr. Trump a few weeks prior, and congratulated him on his victory on Wednesday.
He did not always pick his words carefully, though, describing Mr. Trump’s remarks “on issues such as Mexican immigrants, Muslims, and women… absolutely repugnant” in 2016.
