ISLAMABAD: The Apex Committee, a civil-military body, formally approved a comprehensive military campaign against terrorist organizations operating in Balochistan on Tuesday in response to an increase in militant attacks in the region.
The Prime Minister’s Office said in a statement that the top civil-military body approved a military operation in Balochistan against terrorist organizations such as the Majeed Brigade, BLA, BLF, and BRAS that target innocent civilians and foreigners in an effort to impede Pakistan’s economic development by causing instability at the request of adversarial foreign powers.
The development coincided with an increase in terror attacks on civilians and security forces; earlier this month, a suicide explosion at Quetta’s railway station killed at least 27 people and injured over 60 more.
