Following consultation with the chiefs of law enforcement agencies in light of the International Defence Exhibition and Seminar (IDEAS) 2024, the Sindh government has designated the Karachi airport and the adjacent areas as a “red zone” due to elevated security concerns.
District Malir police authorities affirmed that only travelers coming into or going out of the port city and those performing official tasks will be allowed entry to the red zone as IDEAS 2024 got underway on Tuesday.
Additionally, checkpoints have been set up at five strategic areas close to the airport—Star Gate, CAA Club, Madame Bridge, Model Morr, and ASF Road Rangers Post—in an attempt to improve security in the area.
Rangers and police officers will be on duty at these locations 24/7 to ensure comprehensive inspections.
